Stewart Hall Art Rental Gallery, 2012 Colllection

Nova Scotia Shore (14"x18") is part of my Trans Canada Drive series. It has been selected to be part of the 2012 collection for Stewart Hall Art Gallery in Pointe Claire, QC. The inaugural vernissage will be on Sunday, Nov. 27 at 1pm.

This image reminds me of brilliant summer days spent on a secluded beach. The bright yellow path winds and bumps through an old forest while kids gear up to explode from the car into the sunlight at the end for a day of adventure, treasure hunts, swimming and a big fat picnic.

I didn't explore this path, but glimpsed and snapped it with my Canon as we drove along the shore from St. Margaret's Bay to Peggy's Cove. Somebody else owns and loves this little road. For me it represents all of the gorgeous spots we have discovered over the years along many shores, and the magnificent days of leisure and fun shared with family and friends.

Vernissage at Viva Vida Art Gallery

My Trans-Canada Drive Series continues to evolve,
and will be exhibited at Viva Vida Art Gallery
in Pointe Claire Village
from Friday, Oct. 14 to Thursday, Oct. 27.

The Vernissage will be on Friday, Oct. 14th from 7 to 9pm.

Join us for wine and cheese, and to peruse my new collection of paintings from my Trans-Canada Drive Series.
Pointe Claire Village is also a great place for dinner. My favorites are either excellent pub-grub at Ye Olde Orchard Pub and Grill, or exquisite Italian Cuisine and fabulous service at Il Centro. Both are within a few minutes walk from the gallery. A stroll out to the point reveals a spectacular view of Lac St. Louis and the historical St. Joachim Church. Further out on the point you will also find the old windmill.

Trans-Canada Drive series of paintings

My Trans-Canada Drive series of oil paintings presents glimpses of our Canadian landscape as seen from a moving vehicle. The images are sometimes site-specific, sometimes generically Canadian and always blurred by the speed of passing or glancing. I hope to inspire contemplation of time, space and place.

You are invited to be a passenger, to remember being a passenger, and to recall moments of staring out the window at a landscape that exists only in fluid moments. You are interacting but removed, moving fast but sitting still; you are here, and between here and there. A fleeting glance becomes a substantial source of insight and inspiration.

I will be participating in the group exhibition "Memories, Images of Pointe-Claire Then and Now", at Stewart Hall Art Gallery in Pointe Claire, Quebec.

The exhibition opens with a picnic vernissage this Sunday, July 10th from noon to 4pm (with ice cream and refreshments provided), and continues until Aug. 28th.

Stewart Hall is a beautiful cultural centre overlooking Lac St. Louis at 176 Bord-du-Lac / Lakeshore Drive in Pointe-Clare; a perfect place for a picnic any day of the week.
